Privacy Policy

Who I am

My name is Tina Borke and this is my private website: https://tinaborke.com. It serves the purpose of an online portfolio and to express my thoughts and opinions through my blog. I do not intend to earn any money with this website.

What personal data I collect and why I collect it

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site I collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Contact forms

If you use my contact form you have to consent to me storing your name and email information for the purpose of replying to your request. I will not forward your information to third parties or use your email address for marketing purposes.

Cookies

This site uses cookies to optimize your experience and to improve it continuously. By continuing to use the website, you agree to the use of cookies.

If you leave a comment on my site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, I will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, I will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

Social Media Plugin “Shariff Wrapper”

On my website I offer you the possibility to use so called “Social Media Buttons”. To protect your data, I use a solution called “Shariff”. Hereby the share buttons are implemented as static images, which contain a link to the corresponding social network site. If you click on such a button, you will be redirected to the respective social network site in the same way, as normal links would do as well. Only in that moment of time the provider of the social network site will get information about you, for example your IP address. If you do not click on such a share button, no data will be transmitted. Information about the collection and usage of your date on the social network sites can be found in the corresponding terms of use of the respective provider. More information about the plugin and the Shariff solution can be found here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/shariff/

Plugin “Polylang”

I use the plugin “Polylang” by Frédéric Demarle to provide the content of my site in two languages. Polylang uses a cookie to remember the language selected by the user when s/he comes back to visit again the website. This cookie is also used to get the language information when not available in another way. Examples are ajax requests or the login page. The cookie is requested for user interface customization and expires after one year. Otherwise Polylang does not collect any personal data.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

I’m using the plugin “Embed videos and respect privacy by Michael Zangl to embed YouTube videos, which is a 2-click solution that only establishes a connection with YouTube (and Google), when you click to play the video.

Analytics

I’m not using any analytics plugin that would collect your personal data.

Who I share your data with

I do not share your data with third party providers. If you choose to interact with embedded content or social media plugins as noted above, or write comments on my blog posts, you are giving your consent to share your data with those services.

How long I retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. In this way I can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

Information entered into contact forms is stored for six months.

What rights you have over your data

If you have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data I hold about you, including any data you have provided to me. You can also request that I erase any personal data I hold about you. This does not include any data I am obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where I send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service using the plugin “Antispam Bee” by pluginkollektiv.

How I protect your data

My site uses SSL encryption to protect your data. I furthermore use special plugins, such as “Shariffand “Embed videos and respect privacy”, to prevent sending your personal information to third parties before you consent to use their service by clicking on the links/videos/social media buttons.

My contact information
