About
Hi, I’m Tina.
I’m a scientist and project manager with 10+ years of research experience in life science. I’m an expert in conjugation and functionalization of biomacromolecules for drug delivery and immunotherapy.

A fast learner with distinct analytical thinking, I’m thriving in multi-disciplinary environments. Having a long-standing interest in project management and communication, I’m seeking to leverage my excellent organizational skills, solving problems at the cross-section of chemistry and biology
Bioconjugation
My focus is on establishment and optimization of bioconjugation strategies for polymers and particles in the fields of drug delivery & in vitro diagnostics. I have conjugated antibodies, proteins, and peptides using site-specific as well as traditional approaches to form stable or degradable bonds as required.
Synthesis
I have extensive experience in preparative organic chemistry, as well as ring-opening and controlled radical polymerization techniques. Using various bottom-up and top-down methods, I have prepared metal and polymer nanoparticles for labeling and sensing applications.
Analytics
I’m skilled in a broad range of instrumental analytics, characterizing physicochemical properties and identifying structure-property-relationships of macromolecules and (nano)materials. In addition, I’m experienced in primary cell isolation, immunofluorescent labeling, and flow cytometry.

5 Free tools for image creation and processing
The work of a scientist is not just about experimenting in a laboratory. We also spend a lot of time attending meetings and conferences with colleagues and other researchers. There, we present the results of our experiments and explain our hypotheses. Or we write reports of our findings for publication in scientific journals. Either way, […]

Polymer-drug conjugates: idea and implementation
Today I want to talk about polymer-drug conjugates. What’s the idea behind such conjugates? What are the advantages and challenges? And are there any polymer-drug conjugates in clinical use? I became interested in this topic during my PhD, as I was developing a polymer carrier material for ocular use. Since my carrier should be water-soluble, […]

Transformative businesses and my definition of success
A few weeks ago I happened to attend a workshop on transformative entrepreneurship. During the summer I had started to volunteer for the Helsinki-based not-for-profit organization The Shortcut. The Shortcut supports tech startups by bringing people with different backgrounds together. They organize a multitude of events and trainings, for example an annual series of workshops, […]
