Professional Experience
I completed a comprehensive training in Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and quality management in the pharmaceutical industry. My graduation project was focused on Quality by Design according to the ICH Q8 guideline and it’s implementation in the development of biopharmaceuticals.
I coordinated and executed concurrent research and product development projects across the business segments cell analysis, cell isolation, and cell therapy. I devised bioconjugation strategies and developed analytical methods for the investigation of structure-property relationships, in-process and quality controls of biomolecules.
I oversaw and presented project progress at departmental and management meetings, managed the collaboration with external contract synthesis partners. I directed an agile product development team and trained and supervised technical staff, students and apprentices. I authored reports, FTO documents, invention disclosures and patent applications.
I built a website using HTML, CSS and WordPress and wrote blog posts about scientific and personal topics.
I planned and executed a research project tackling the pharmacokinetic challenges of sustained intravitreal drug delivery.
I designed, synthesized, and characterized delivery vehicles based on natural and synthetic polymers. Establishing a novel drug delivery concept, I devised analytical methods to quantify the release kinetics. I published proof-of-concept in peer-reviewed scientific journals and presented my work at 12 international conferences, winning one presentation award.
I acquired more than 120 000 € in competitive grants to supported my research and conference travel, and expanded my management and motivational skills planning and supervising 7 student research & graduation projects, as well as being chairwoman of the student association HYPPY ry (12/2014 – 12/2017).
I planned and executed experiments to examine the copolymerization of L-lactide and the, at the time, novel bio-based monomer ε-decalactone.
I synthesized copolymers with different architectures and investigated the (co)polymerization kinetics, polymer (micro)structures, thermal and mechanical properties, producing materials with 250-fold enhanced toughness and thermal stability that were, depending on the composition, transparent and/or stretchable by 1000 %.
I authored a Master’s thesis titled “Synthesis of Advanced Materials from Renewable Resources” and coauthored 1 peer-reviewed scientific article.
I produced and characterized biodegradable polymer blends for packaging applications. By reactive blending, I introduced crosslinks into the polymer blends and studied the thermal and mechanical properties of the resulting materials. I scaled the best formulations up to 70 kg batches using extrusion equipment.
I authored a comprehensive report and participated in meetings with industrial collaborators to determine their requirements for the developed materials.
I synthesized metal nanomaterials for photonic and antimicrobial applications. I devised a fractionation strategy based on sedimentation and coauthored 2 peer-reviewed scientific articles.
